Trump administration FBI Director Kash Patel recently argued that Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is one of the most corrupt politicians in United States history over his role in the previous impeachment of President Donald Trump during his first term. Patel stressed that Schiff’s involvement in the matter should be investigated.
Schiff gained notoriety in national politics as the lead prosecutor against President Trump in his first impeachment trial, in which the House charged him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate eventually acquitted Trump in early 2020. However, renewed attention has been directed toward Schiff now that Trump is back in power.
Patel claimed, “Adam Schiff is the worst criminals in Congress in the last 250 years. Adam Schiff went to the podium day after day after day saying, I know nothing about this. We’re not going to discuss it. We’re going to protect it. And then he, Adam Schiff, led the prosecution of the impeachment trial in the Senate of President Donald Trump.”
The FBI director accused Schiff of having a conflict of interest with whistleblower Eric Ciarmella and of fabricating accusations against Trump. “Talk about someone who was conflicted out of the game because he was part of the hoax that brought Ciarmella in, manufactured that false accusation, and then peddled it out to the world,” he said. “You know, not surprising, he’s lied about almost everything in his life, but now he lied just to set up a presidential impeachment. That’s what I was talking about, these disinformation campaigns.”
Ultimately, Patel concluded that Schiff should be investigated for his past involvement in the impeachment. “He should be investigated. Because he lied to the world about his interactions with Ciarmella who is a whistleblower and I can’t stress it enough that started a presidential impeachment,” he said.
The clip has gone viral on social media, with conservative commentators weighing in. “FBI Director Kash Patel: Kash Patel said Adam is the most corrupt politician in Congress. The American Tribune reported on past comments from President Trump about Schiff reportedly fabricating a conversation he had with Ukraine to push the impeachment forward. “He should resign from office in disgrace, and frankly, they should look at Him for treason, because he is making up the words of the President of the United States, not only words, but the meaning,” Trump said. “And it’s a disgrace. It should not be allowed to happen.”
The president continued, “The whistleblower was very inaccurate. The whistleblower started this whole thing by writing a report on the conversation I had with the President of Ukraine, and the conversation was perfect.” He added, “Not a thing wrong, unless you heard the Adam Schiff version where he made up my conversation. He actually made it up. It should be criminal. It should be treasonous. He made it up. Every word of it made up and read to Congress as though I said it.”
