In an epic move to protect freedom of speech, Elon Musk’s X Corp sued the controversial anti-Trump New York Attorney General Letitia James to stop the so-called “Stop Hiding Hate Act” as a First Amendment violation. The wildly unconstitutional law requires social media platforms to disclose content moderation policies and report hate speech and disinformation takedowns.
X argues that this law compels unconstitutional speech disclosures, mirroring a California law partially blocked by the Ninth Circuit. Supporters of the Orwellian speech law include Gov. Kathy Hochul and the Anti-Defamation League.
For context, Letitia James has pursued legal actions against the president, including a civil fraud case aimed at financially harming him. After the 2024 election, James congratulated President Trump on his win but warned that her office was “prepared to fight back” against his America First agenda.

Addressing the controversial law, X Corp said, “Defining the boundaries of acceptable discourse online engenders considerable debate among reasonable people about where to draw the correct proverbial line,’ the company wrote in its filing, according to Reuters. ‘This is not a role that the government may play.’”
Supporting the controversial law, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said, “[The Stop Hiding Hate Act] gives consumers the transparency and security they need and deserve.” Building on this point, Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal added, “The fact that Elon Musk would go to these lengths to avoid disclosing straightforward information to New Yorkers shows why the law is necessary.”
Continuing her bizarre diatribe, the Democrat said, “We sued on probationary employees, all those probationary employees who were terminated. We won. We sued the NHI, the National Health Institute. We were successful in getting a preliminary injunction.”
Concluding her woke rant, Letitia James whined, “We sued on the dismantling of the Department of Education. We were successful. We got a TRO we were successful in regards to the education grants. I can go on and on and on. The point is, is that we are winning.”
In another absurd rant, she ironically slammed Musk for violating the law, saying, “They have exceeded their authority, and so it’s important that attorneys general representing our respective States stand up and enforce the rule of law.” She then said, “Because Elon Musk, individuals at the Treasury and the President of these United States is not above the law, and we will continue.”
