NOTE: This is an old story. The incident happened during a Biden State of the Union speech, which was in early March of 2022. But, as President Trump just did his first State of the Union Address of his second term, and Pelosi and the Democrats were again acting like fools doing it, we thought this would be entertaining to revisit. During President Trump’s last State of the Union address of his first term, back in the early spring of 2020, Pelosi, sitting behind him, ripped his speech to pieces as soon as he finished speaking, a horrendous display of bad manners and a showing of the “unity” the Democrats are actually after. That’s no surprise, given their continued rejection of common-sense reforms, such as their rejection of Melania’s attempt to fight deepfakes targeting teen girls.
Well, Nancy got back to making a fool of herself during President Biden’s 2022 State of the Union addresses, a speech that would have been a rambling disaster even without her antics. But her antics were included, and made it all the worse for President Biden. In fact, she was sitting behind him, in her then-role as Speaker of the House, this time licking her chops “like the Joker on meth” while Biden spoke.
Commenters on what was then called Twitter were happy to call her out on it. For example, the “Catturd” account quote tweeted a video of her acting absurdly and said, “Looks like the Joker on meth.” Also chiming in was Drew Hernandez. He, commenting on much the same clip, jokingly posted, “Don’t do drugs.”
Many others chimed in, posting about the same video and same general impression that Pelosi was beclowning herself in front of the nation. OutKick’s Clay Travis, for example, wrote, “Seriously, this is so weird.” A commenter on the incident said, “The Botox Goobermint on display! Aren’t we so lucky they don’t make mean tweets!!

Yet weirder than her face and hobo-like hand rubbing is when she was doing that performance; it came during a portion of Biden’s speech in which he was discussing the infamous, toxic “burn pits” from the Iraq war that many Americans suspect gave many of our soldiers deployed over there cancer or other issues.
Biden, as Pelosi did her weird performance, said “I’ve always believed that we have a sacred obligation to equip all those we send to war and care for them and their families when they come home,” then went on to add that his administration is “providing assistance with job training and housing, and now helping lower-income veterans get VA care debt-free.”
Continuing his discussion of the horrific burn pits, he said “Our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan faced many dangers. One was stationed at bases and breathing in toxic smoke from ‘burn pits’ that incinerated wastes of war—medical and hazard material, jet fuel, and more.” As a bit more context, Rice University had this to say about the burn pits in Iraq and the chemicals they were exposing troops to:
The same deadly chemicals found in the herbicide Agent Orange that was sprayed on the jungles of Vietnam during the Vietnam War are being released in burn pits on U.S. military bases across Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Otherwise healthy U.S. service members are returning from deployment with cancer, leukemia, respiratory illnesses and other chronic conditions,” said Chelsey Poisson, a RIC nursing student with prior military service in the R.I. Army National Guard. Poisson has made it her mission to advocate for service members who have been exposed to burn pits and to push for legislation to change military policies.
Burn pits are massive holes backhoed in the ground to dispose of waste/garbage on U.S. military bases. One of the largest burn pits – at Joint-Base Balad in Iraq – spanned 10 acres. Smaller metal barrels are used at smaller platoons. The danger, Poisson said, is what is being burnt in them.
So, Pelosi’s weird, gleeful knuckle-rubbing came during Biden’s discussion of those horrible pits. Why? Was she not listening to what he was saying (understandable and likely), or was she just that excited at the idea of soldiers getting cancer from burn pits? Either way, it was a very weird performance made all the more odd by the sad portion of the speech it came during.
