WATCH: Maxine Waters Shouts at and Threatens DOGE, HUD Staffers for Working with Trump

On March 3, 2025, Maxine Waters and other woke democrats attempted to deliver a letter to Sec. Scott Turner at the Housing and Urban Development (HUD)  headquarters. She was joined by Rashida Tlaib and a video of the dramatic altercation went viral on social media. The letter was part of a protest against the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Waters posted a ‘media advisory’ to her official website announcing the protest.  “Following staff terminations within the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), reports of closed field offices, and rolling back of civil rights enforcement,” the document read, ” on Monday, March 3 at 5 pm E.T.Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, will hand-deliver a letter to Secretary Turner requesting critical information for Congressional oversight.”

“Members of Congress will address housing advocates and tenants immediately after for an event outside of the agency to sound the alarm on how Trump and DOGE’s actions will worsen our nation’s housing and homelessness crisis and exacerbate discrimination in housing,” she concluded. During the contentious protest, Waters said she would “Stay all night” until she could hand deliver her letter to Turner.

HUD Chief of Staff Andrew Hughes offered to deliver the letter himself, but the protestors refused his offer. When he called security to remove the unruly democrats, Waters pleaded, “Please let them in! Please!” Tlaib had a massive meltdown where she said another HUD official doesn’t “work for the American people.” The meltdown continued as she yelled “No you don’t! No you don’t!” While being led away by security.

After the congresswomen were led outside, they joined a rally with roughly 100 attendees. The protest called for an end to DOGE and Elon Musk’s firing. Steven Horsford (D-NV) shouted that “You wanna evict someone, evict his ass.” He also stated that “Elon Musk and his hackers don’t know shit about running a house program,” he added.

In response to the altercation, a spokesperson for Sec. Turner released a statement to the press.” The Department appreciates the Congresswoman taking the time to travel to the agency, rather than attending to legislative business, when the House is in session,” the spokesperson said. ” While she has questions for the Department about how it is effectively and efficiently using taxpayer dollars, the department also has questions for her, including:”
